Military Wod - Today's Hero Training is a unique opportunity to participate in high-intensity training in memory of a fallen first responder. Additionally, there are several WOD calendars online that detail the workouts for each day and provide a brief summary of the hero to be honored.

So don't hesitate to jump in and start moving! Many hero WODs do not require exercise or training equipment. For example, bodyweight exercises include push-ups, lunges, and pull-ups. These provide many health benefits and are relatively easy on the body's joints and muscles.

Honor The Fallen Get Fit Each Day

The Sas Mind Game Workout

What Is A Hero Wod?

This is a very popular event in the explosive ordnance disposal (military and law enforcement) world. How fast can you run a mile in your EOD bomb suit? The world record for running a mile while wearing an 80kg weight bomb was under eight minutes.

Quarter mile burpees/broad jumps. It's a sadistic way to move a quarter mile, but getting down and getting up quickly is a very functional movement that needs to be practiced. It is better not to do this in concrete;

Grass or grass is fine, but sand is fine. From Britain's Special Air Service (SAS) to the US Navy and Israel's Sayeret Matkal - their training methodologies are designed to push you to the breaking point, both physically and mentally.

There's a reason these guys are elite. If you are doing these exercises outdoors, make sure that some of these training exercises are injury-free. When sitting on hard or uneven surfaces or doing other upper body exercises, you may want to use yoga mats for a little more comfort.

Repeat gently several times for best results. That's because arm circles, leg swings, and neck rotations and abdominal stretches can quickly warm up your body. After a heroic WOD, the same type of stretching can serve as a useful cool-down as muscles slowly recover.

As a former powerlifting football/rugby player through high school and college, I grew up. Just because I wrote a book without any weight training doesn't mean I don't like lifting or recommend calisthenics for SEAL training.

I add a lifting cycle for my WOY (Workouts of the Year) every year and find that periodization works best with a logical progression in many elements like running, swimming, calisthenics and lifting (not powerlifting, not bodybuilding).
